Send us the footage and a deadline. We cut, grade, caption and export it in every aspect ratio your channels need, with a fixed number of revision rounds and a delivery date you can plan a campaign around.
Quick Answer
Most video work that lands on our desk in Mt Eden is one of four things. Paid ad cuts for Meta and YouTube, where the first two seconds decide whether the spend works. Organic social edits — Reels, TikToks, Shorts — usually batched from one shoot day. Corporate and internal video: founder interviews, capability films, safety and induction content, conference recaps. And product video for e-commerce, which is the least glamorous and often the highest-return category, because a 20-second loop on a product page does work every single day. We edit all four, and we are honest about which one your budget actually suits.

Step one is getting the footage off your hands cleanly, via a shared drive link rather than a transfer service whose links expire mid-project. Give us the raw camera files, not screen-recorded or re-exported copies — every re-encode costs quality you cannot get back. If you have interview audio recorded separately on a lav or a field recorder, send that too. Separate audio is almost always better than camera audio, and it is the biggest quality upgrade available on a small budget.
We then log the footage and build a paper edit — a written running order of which clips carry which part of the message — before touching the timeline. You approve that structure first. Approving a structure takes ten minutes; disagreeing with a finished cut takes a week. From there we assemble a rough cut with placeholder music and no grade, so you review story and pacing rather than being distracted by colour. Once that is signed off we lock picture and move to finishing: grade, sound mix, motion graphics, lower thirds, end card, captions.
Two revision rounds are included, and we define what a round means so nobody argues later. A round is one consolidated set of feedback delivered at once. Ten separate emails over three days is not one round, and drip-fed feedback is how projects quietly double in cost. Changes after picture lock — swapping an interview, re-scripting the voiceover, adding a product — are quoted as additional work, because they mean redoing the grade and mix. Extra rounds beyond the included two are quoted as additional work, priced on the hours the changes actually take.
Turnaround is the thing clients actually ring about. For a short-form social cut from footage that is already clean and labelled, three to five working days is normal. A batch of eight to ten reels from one shoot day is usually one to two weeks. A corporate brand film with scripting, a shoot, a grade and licensed music runs three to six weeks end to end, and most of that time is not editing — it is scheduling people, waiting on legal sign-off, and getting the voiceover approved. If you have a campaign date, tell us at the briefing stage and we will build the schedule backwards from it rather than forwards from today.

Edit-only work, from footage you already own, is priced on length, how much graphics work is involved, and how organised the source material is — labelled, clean footage with separate audio takes a fraction of the hours that an unsorted drive does. A single short-form social cut is the smallest job we quote. A batch of eight to ten reels from one shoot day costs far less per video than the same reels ordered one at a time, because the project setup, grade and caption style are built once and reused. An animated explainer with custom illustration costs more than any live-action edit of the same length, since every frame is drawn rather than filmed. Ongoing retainers, where we cut a fixed volume each month, are priced on that volume and are the cheapest way to buy video per finished piece.
With production included, the crew and the day count drive the cost. A half-day shoot in Auckland plus edit covers a camera operator, lighting and audio, and a small number of deliverables. A full corporate brand film costs several times that, because it adds scripting, a full shoot day, a professional voiceover, a grade and licensed music. Broadcast-standard work with talent, location fees and paid-channel usage rights sits well above both and should be quoted properly rather than estimated, since usage rights alone can rival the production cost. Travel outside Auckland, drone work under a certified operator, and studio hire are separate line items on every quote.
What you supply is short but not optional: raw footage, your logo in vector format, brand fonts or a licence for them, colour values, and approved copy for any on-screen text. If you want a specific track you need the commercial licence — we will not put unlicensed music on a client video, because the takedown lands on your channel. For anything featuring staff or customers we need signed release forms before the edit starts. Send a reference video you like and one you dislike; that pair tells us more than a page of adjectives.
Why Choose Us
The editing happens in Adobe Premiere Pro for cuts and After Effects for motion graphics, with grading in DaVinci Resolve when a project needs it. Audio gets treated properly — noise reduction, levelling to broadcast-safe loudness, and a music bed licensed for commercial use rather than pulled off YouTube. Captions are burned in or supplied as SRT depending on the platform. You review through a timestamped link, so feedback attaches to the exact frame rather than being described in an email thread. That single habit removes more revision rounds than any other change we have made.

Industries
Kiwitech works with Auckland and wider New Zealand businesses across 25+ industries, but four verticals dominate our roster: property (Auckland developers, apartment launches, agency networks), education (private schools, tertiary providers, edtech), healthcare (specialist groups, dental and dermatology clinics, allied-health practices), and food and beverage (CBD and Ponsonby cafes, Britomart fine dining, food-court chains, cloud kitchens). SaaS, D2C retail, fashion boutiques across Newmarket and Ponsonby, and South Auckland industrial manufacturers round out the next tier of growing accounts.

Our Process
A 5-step playbook we run with every Auckland client. Same rigour for a single-location SMB and a multi-brand enterprise pod — only the depth changes.
Goal, audience, platform, deadline, and two reference videos — one you like, one you do not.
Footage transferred, checked for usable takes and audio quality, and logged into a shot list.
Written running order approved before the timeline is built, so structure is settled early.
Assembly with placeholder music and no grade, reviewed on a timestamped link.
Grade, mix, graphics and captions, then exports in every ratio your channels need.

Aspect ratio is where a lot of Auckland video budgets get wasted. A 16:9 corporate film cropped to 9:16 for Reels cuts the subject in half and pushes your logo off screen. We plan framing before the edit starts: 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, 4:5 for the in-feed Meta placement that takes the most vertical real estate, 1:1 where a client still runs square, and 16:9 for YouTube, websites and anything going on a screen at a trade stand. Each ratio is a separate export with its own safe-area check for the platform UI, not a single master file squeezed to fit.
FAQ
Four things set the number: whether we are editing your footage or shooting it, the finished length, how much motion graphics and custom illustration is involved, and how organised the source material is. Edit-only from clean, labelled footage is the cheapest route; adding a shoot day with a camera operator, lighting and audio is the single biggest step up. Batching reels from one shoot costs much less per video than ordering them individually, and an animated explainer costs more than live action of the same length because every frame is drawn. We quote per project after seeing the footage, because organised source material can halve the hours.
Three to five working days for a short-form cut from clean footage. One to two weeks for a batch of reels from a single shoot. Three to six weeks for a corporate brand film including scripting, shoot, grade and voiceover — most of that is scheduling and approvals rather than editing. Rush work is possible for existing clients when the footage is ready, and carries a priority fee.
Two consolidated rounds are included. A round means one set of feedback delivered at once, not a stream of separate emails. Additional rounds are quoted as extra work on the hours involved. Changes after picture lock — new interviews, rewritten voiceover, added products — are quoted separately because they mean redoing the grade and the audio mix.
Whatever your channels need, exported individually rather than cropped from one master. Typically 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, 4:5 for in-feed Meta, 1:1 where you still run square, and 16:9 for YouTube, your website and event screens. Delivery is H.264 MP4 for web, with ProRes masters on request for archive or broadcast.
Raw camera files rather than re-exported copies, any separately recorded audio, your logo as a vector file, brand fonts and colour values, approved on-screen copy, and signed release forms for anyone appearing on camera. If you want a specific music track you need the commercial licence for it — we will not use unlicensed music, because the takedown lands on your channel.
Often yes, and for social content phone footage is frequently fine. The limits are audio and light. Phone audio recorded across a noisy room cannot be fixed in post, and heavily underexposed footage falls apart when graded. Send us a sample before committing to a full shoot and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth editing or whether a half day with a camera operator gets you a much better result for the money.
